Weekend Getaway

Yesterday, while I was waiting at the doctor's office, I was checking my email messages on my phone. I see an email from "Corporate Communications". I started reading it and getting excited because it was the final confirmation that I earned the trip for two to Hilton Head. I read it over a second time and couldn't believe that this weekend getaway trip is THIS year, not next year. What? Any incentive trips earned are always for the following year, aren't they? Well, that's not true anymore!

Dan's b-day was yesterday. I printed the email out for him to read when he got home from work last night. As most of you know, he truly is my partner in my Stampin' Up! business. I'm thrilled that we will be able to enjoy this trip together later this year.

Here's the quote from the email:

"Get ready to experience first class amenities and a relaxing, ocean front atmosphere at the luxurious Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa. Located within the gracious Port Royal Plantation, the Westin is set on a pristine stretch of sandy white beach along the Atlantic."

Ohhhhhh, this just sounds lovely. I still can't believe that this trip is in 2012, not 2013. Oh well! I'll adjust, and rather quickly too! Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support. Without you, this trip would not be possible.

Making Chore Charts with My Digital Studio Software

Today's blog post is brought to you by Lindsey Hortin, from the Stampin’ Up! Communications Department.

My daughter recently asked me for a chore chart. I know, what child asks for a chore chart? It made me smile. I thought I better seize the moment before it is too late! For this project, I chose the Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper because I love the color scheme. (Hopefully the bright colors will help motivate my kids.)

Then, I used the new Bunch of Backgrounds Stamp Brush Set. I love background stamps—the images are so versatile! I layered the Weathered image in Whisper White over the check boxes for some added texture. For the background, I used the Chicken Wire image in Whisper White on Jenna’s chart and the Flannel Plaid image in Lucky Limeade on Connor’s chart.

The next step is to frame the charts and use a dry-erase marker to check off items each day. (Fingers crossed that this will work!) Creating a chore chart is not a chore when you’re using My Digital Studio!

One great thing about My Digital Studio is that sometimes we get to bring back retired images! Bunch of Backgrounds features the following retired (or soon to-be-retired) background stamp images:

And here’s a quick tip before I go. A handy tool for a project like this is “Align Objects”. Select the items you want to align by holding the shift key (or the Apple key on a Mac) and clicking on the objects. Then, go to the top menu and select, “Left, Center, or Right”. I also evenly spaced the “chores” vertically using the same drop down menu. So easy!

Today is the Last Day

The Gift of Time Fundraiser

Yesterday was The Gift of Time Fundraiser at my church. Thank you to everyone who came for the Stamp-a-Stack and for nine hours of crafting. I had so much fun visiting with everyone throughout the day. The next fundraiser will be after summer is over. I will let you know when the date is selected.

Classic Stampin’ Ink Pads

Starting June 1, the Classic Stampin’ Ink Pads will be updated with a new firm-foam pad that offers better ink coverage and, in turn, better stamped images. There seems to be some concern about all of the Classic Stampin’ Pads being on the retired lists. Not to worry! The core colors are not retiring; Stampin' Up! is just updating and improving the pads themselves.
