I've resisted as long as I could, but I've now taken the plunge. I have now entered the Simply Adorned world of customized jewelry. At Convention in July, I saw so many incredible samples using the Simply Adorned jewelry, which got me thinking. A few weeks ago, another demonstrator organized a swap to make inserts for the three largest charms. I entered the 1" x 1 1/4" charm swap.
Here are my 26 inserts that I made. Who knew making something so small would create such confusion for me? I really struggled on what to make. I tried stamping images, different backgrounds, different cardstock colors, etc. I was driving myself nuts trying to figure out what to make. Seriously, it was a tiny piece of cardstock, which just threw off my creativity.
Then it hit me! The creative bug arrived. What if I took the 120988 1/2" Black Lace Trim and attached it to 100730 Whisper White cardstock? Okay, so far, so good. Now what? I tried different things, but nothing looked right. Guess what was laying on my stamp table? My shoebox full of Sizzix Big Shot leftovers. So I dug in there and saw some sheets of 119685 Cherry Cobbler Cardstock that were run through the 116824 Petals-a-Plenty Embossing Folder. Red, white and black have always been a favorite color combination, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. I took the 120908 3/4" x 15/16" Oval Medium punch and centered the embossed flower. That looked fine, but it needed something else. The last thing I added was the bling: 120987 Black Flourish Designer Jewels (note: I cut my apart to use instead of using the whole thing.)
Here's a close-up of my Simply Adorned swap. It will look elegant and rich in the beveled glass charm! Then I can add some of the Simply Adorned Baubles (p. 32 of Holiday Mini Catalog) to finish off the necklace.
Even if you aren't a big jewelry person yourself, they make awesome gifts. Who wouldn't love to receive a unique, hand created necklace or bracelet? It comes with its own gift box, which you can decorate to match the customized insert, along with a gift tag and you'll be giving some WOW gifts that won't be returned!
Simply Adorned charms can be used for Christmas tree ornaments by using the 1 1/2" x 2" charm and using some ribbon to tie it to the tree. Wouldn't it be cute to put a child or grandchild's photo in the front of the ornament and have them write their name and the year on the back side? Or how about photo's of your pets? What a wonderful, personalized memory to cherish.
Necklaces, bracelets, ornaments, key chains and tie tacks are some of the different ways you can use Simply Adorned charms. Does anyone have any other ideas they want to share?
