I had no idea when I fell in love with stamping and scrapbooking, that they could be combined with fabric and sewing. Even though I don't use my sewing skills very much anymore, these fabric projects don't require special sewing skills. And some of the projects don't even require a sewing machine. Twitterpated Fabric & Cardstock Dress

Oh, the fun creations you can make with fabric and cardstock. Who looked at the Round Tab Punch and thought it looked like a shirt? Not me! I didn't even realize the Bordering on Romance stamp set matched the Twitterpated Designer Fabric perfectly until I saw this sample at Leadership. I sure appreciate other people's creative ideas!

Placemat Purses

I forgot to post the pictures I took at my September 25 downline meeting. Once we all finished our shoebox swaps, it was time to sew! There's a first time for anything and it was the first time we sewed at my meeting. Some of my downline wanted to make the placemat purse that my manager, Terri, made as gifts for Convention attendees. You take a cloth placemat, fold it in half, sew the two side seams and then sew two more bottom seams. Add some ribbon handles and you have a purse. I know this probably makes no sense to you, but the photographs will help you.

Here is Denise sewing the handles on her purse.

Here are Nicole and Sandy sewing their placemats. See the yellow purse on the table? That is what they are making.

Even though some of my downline had never used a sewing machine before, they jumped in and sewed the four seams to make their purses. It was another fun Stampin' (and sewing) DIVA Day!

Quilted Art for the Walls

This framed quilt piece caught my eye hanging on one of the Convention displays. No surprise, since I love quilts, flowers and the shabby chic look. They used the 121817 Springtime Vintage Designer Fabric to make this and added some buttons, ribbons and fabric flowers. What I'm amazed at is they took the word "happiness" from the 111644 Heard from the Heart stamp set, enlarged it and embroidered it on the fabric. This would make such a unique piece of art for your walls or a beautiful gift to give someone!

Here are some more quilts that were on display at a Stampin' Up! Leadership Conference. These are made with the 113439 Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine and the Bigz dies.

Quilting with the Big Shot – Part 1

I love wrapping myself in a warm, worn quilt. Handmade quilts = love and comfort to me. My maternal grandmother was a quilter. My mother did some quilting. My sister quilts. I have made one quilt in my life and it took me over two years to complete it. I should mention that it was one of those quick strip Log Cabin quilts. Even though I'm not a quilter, I have sewn for many years, and appreciate the time and talent that goes into making a quilt.

Did you know the 113439 Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine can be a quilter's best friend? Depending on the fabric, the Big Shot can cut up to eight layers of fabric at one time. Any of the Bigz dies can cut fabric. Here are some quilts that were on display at a Stampin' Up! Leadership conference.

Felt Pillows

Did you know the Sizzix Big Shot die cutting machine can cut fabric? I saw these pillows at a stamp meeting and asked the demonstrator how she made these. She said that she saw these styles of pillows in some catalogs. They were too expensive for her checkbook, so she decided to figure out how to use her Sizzix Big Shot dies to make them. Both pillows are made with pillow forms covered in felt.

She adhered the 122194 Big Shot Fabric Adhesive Roll to the white felt. Then she put the white felt in the Big Shot using the 113464 Serif Essentials Alphabet Dies for her three initials. Then she ironed the three initials onto the blue felt. She cut numerous flowers from the 118871 Island Floral Die. She cut out circles from the 122194 Big Shot Fabric Adhesive Roll and adhered them to the center of the flowers. Then she ironed the flowers onto the edges of the pillow.

For this pillow, the demonstrator purchased felt that had a slight embossed design in it. She cut flowers from the 115970 Flower Folds Bigz SL die. She adhered the flowers on the pillow by sewing a button in the center.

Simple elegance is how I would describe this card made by my downline, Wanda. She did such a great job designing this card for my team meeting last month. Here are the supplies used:

119277 Elegant Lines Embossing Folder, 118138 Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die, 113252 Thoughts & Prayers stamp set, 114319 5/8" Whisper White Organiza Ribbon, 119859 2" x 1 3/8" Oval XL Punch, 119247 Basic Pearls.

Sizzix Flower Folds Bigz XL Die

I made matching t-shirts for the three grandgirls. I used the fabric that was in the Holiday Mini Catalog for the flowers. I ironed the fabric with the 122194 Big Shot Fabric Adhesive Roll. Then I cut the fabric and adhesive using the 115970 Flower Folds Bigz XL Die. I ironed a flower on the front of each t-shirt and sewed 119747 Brights (Real Red) Designer Buttons in the center. I also made matching hair pretties on hair clips, so they can also clip them to a headband.. They wore their matching outfits for my birthday party. I have a frame where I put an annual picture of the three of them together. Getting the three of them to sit still is quite a chore.
