Christmas Candle

Here is a beautiful gift that I received from my downline, Kathleen. She stamped the images from the 123768 Pines & Poinsettias Stamp Set on tissue paper and trimmed with a scissor close to the edge of the images. She laid them one at a time on the candle and used her heat tool to slightly melt the wax, which covers the tissue paper image. Isn't it striking? Thanks Kathleen!

Decorating with Weeds

Are you thinking this is a name of a new stamp set? No. It is my excuse for not having a stamping/scrapping related project on my blog today. We went to the cabin and this is one of my projects that I worked on. Decorating one of the bare window boxes.

I walked around our property and cut down some of the dried up perennials and weeds.

I thought I may have cut too much, but I didn't. I managed to squeeze every single one in the window box. I know some of them will blow away this winter, so I'm okay with it being overstuffed! Now we have a nice welcoming look for the visitors we'll have at the cabin this winter.

Altered Frame

While shopping, I spotted two of these frames in the clearance section.

This is exactly the stuff I love to find. A flat surface is the easiest thing to alter, so I was pumped by these frames! I covered the surface with the 110755 Multipurpose Liquid Glue. I covered one frame with 121878 First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper and the other one with retired Designer Series Paper. I shabbied both frames with 118762 Distressing Essentials Kit. These frames are perfect for black & white pictures of the grandgirls.

The flower was made with the 121812 Fun Flowers Die, the 117273 Antique Brad and some 118481 Victoria Crochet Trim behind it.

And a close up of my sweeties! They thought it was cool that their dad lifted them up into the tree.

I added the 119246 Basic Rhinestones that I colored black with a permanent black marker.

And here is another close up of my sweetie. What you don't see is my son crouching down behind the tree holding her so she didn't fall.

Paper Wreath

I was looking at some decorating blogs and ran across this Halloween wreath. I saved it, thinking that I could easily make it with Stampin' Up! punches. I save a lot of ideas, but don't get many of them done. I need a creative assistant to make all the things I never have time to make myself! LOL

Now that the 122334 Simply Scored Scoring Tool is here,

the above wreath looks a bit plain and even flimsy.

Now, this is a project I'd love to give my Creative Assistant to do.

The back of the wreath is made with the cardboard from the packages of Designer Series paper. One of these days, I may surprise you and make my own Paper Wreath.

Decorated Tealight Candle

Planning a wedding shower, baby shower, birthday party, holiday dinner, you pick the occasion and you can decorate tealight candles. You can decorate them simple or elaborate. Here is an adorable sample from a recent stamping event. Wrapping ribbon around the tealight candle is the easiest way to cover the sides. Then use your punches and Big Shot embosslits to decorate.

Scrapbooking in a Shadowbox

One of my favorite things to do is to make projects to decorate my home with. If the project involves family photographs, then that is a bonus! I have been working on and off on this project for a few months. I wanted to work on it and finish it in one day, but life gets busy. I had tucked it away in my craft cupboards and found it last night while I was looking for something else (go figure). I decided to finish it last night.

The shadow box is 12 1/2" x 12 1/2". The six compartments are about 4" x 6". I didn't adhere each little scrapbook page to the shadowbox. I want to be able to remove these some day and give them to each grandgirl to frame. The supplies used to make this shadowbox are from Stampin' Up!, except for the Scrabble pieces. (Note: The key, black lace and ribbon roses are now retired.) The empty shadowbox was a gift, so you could search the Internet to find them.

These three sweeties are my grandgirls. The tradition we have in our family is when they are between 12-15 months old, we take photographs of them playing with family heirlooms and antiques. The whole idea is to take candid photographs of the grandgirls' natural curiosity.

Here are the individual 4" x 6" sections with a close up of some of the details.

I love this project. It brings tears to my eyes when I look at it and the sweet memories flood back into my mind. I can't wait to show it to the grandgirls. They are now 7 1/2, 4 and 19 months.

Heritage Photo’s

I got the itch the other day to make something with this little wooden box that I had been saving. It is 8 1/2" long by 3" wide by 1 1/2" deep. There is an antique porcelain knob at the top.

I had been sorting some old family pictures and decided to do some miniature scrapbook pages for the three sections of this box. I decided to shabby and distress the pages. The box was a little too deep for my photo's. It took me a while to rummage through my stuff to find the perfect thing to use. [drum roll please]

The 116802 Circle Treat Cups worked great. They have adhesive on one side, which stuck nicely to the wood shelf.

Here are my three miniature scrapbook pages of my grandparents and parents.

And here is the finished project. I love it!

Shadow Box

Here is a 12" x 12" shadow box created by a demonstrator who submitted it for the annual Stampin' Up! Artisan Award. She didn't win the award. That didn't matter to me because I found it to be beautiful.

Do you want to know how she made it? On My Digital Studio, the digital software! Yowza! She had four copies printed and then cut up three of the copies to add the three layers of dimensions to it.

My fingers are just itching to create one of these! I think I need a creative assistant to make all my projects because my brain doesn't want to turn off or empty these ideas out of it. LOL

Quilted Art for the Walls

This framed quilt piece caught my eye hanging on one of the Convention displays. No surprise, since I love quilts, flowers and the shabby chic look. They used the 121817 Springtime Vintage Designer Fabric to make this and added some buttons, ribbons and fabric flowers. What I'm amazed at is they took the word "happiness" from the 111644 Heard from the Heart stamp set, enlarged it and embroidered it on the fabric. This would make such a unique piece of art for your walls or a beautiful gift to give someone!
