Metal Crown

Published by Sue under Big Shot

Yesterday was our six-week-old grandbaby, Ashley’s, shower.  Since the invitation had a princess theme to it, I wanted to keep with that theme.  Purple is my daughter-in-law’s favorite color, so that always makes it easier to create something.

My studio looks like a bomb went off in it, as I haven’t cleaned up from last week’s Sizzix Big Shot classes.  But that turned out to be a good thing, as I had the aluminium roof flashing scraps on the table.

My daughter had printed an extra black & white photo of Ashley, when she was nine days old, and had given it to me.  I measured how big the crown needed to be and sketched it on paper.  Then I laid the crown paper pattern on the roof flashing and cut it out with scissors.  I made sure to round any corners, so no one would cut themselves.  Then I put it through the embossing folder.  Next, I punched holes at the three points for the "jewels", punched holes to make a band on the crown and added a little bit of bling to the edges.  I slightly bent it to give it a curve and adhered it to Ashley’s head.  Surprisingly, this turned out on the first try!  This was so much fun to figure out how to make and to actually see it completed!  Most important, I wasn’t late for the baby shower!

Supplies Used:  113439 Big Shot Die-Cut Machine, 115963 Finial Press Embossing Folder, 101227 1/16" Circle Handheld Punch, 116631 Paper Piercing Tool, 105826 Mat Pack, 101055 Crystal Effects, 108797 Chunky Essentials Glitter (white), 104430 Dimensionals,109111 Circle Ice Rhinestone Brads (lilac), 109113 Square Ice Rhinestone Brads (lilac), 113463 Top Note Die Cut, 101614 Lavender Lace Cardstock, 108692 Basic Gray Cardstock.

First Year Baby Photo Frame

Published by Sue under Decorating

My daughter had two matching frames for her daughters’  first year baby photos.  One of the frames recently was broken.  So she decided to make her own.

She used Designer Series Paper for the background; 104401 1 3/8" circle punch for the photo’s, 105090 Word Window Punch for the months, 112530 Circle Scissors Plus for the large 1 year photo, 113490 Baroque Motifs stamp set (large swirl), retired Simon lower chipboard letters (other letters printed from the computer), 114889 Scallop Oval punch, 107305 Large Oval Punch and miscellaneous buttons.

These turned out so well.  Great job Melanie!

Definitely Decorative Decor Elements

Published by Sue under Decor Elements, Decorating

Here are two Definitely Decorative Decor Elements projects my daughter recently did.

She put the Chalkboard Decorative Sign above their telephone.  It is available in three sizes:

119664 Decorative Sign 13 3/4" x 15 3/4"  $14.95

119665 Decorative Sign 17 7/8" x 20 7/8"  $18.95

119666 Decorative Sign 23 1/2" x 26 1/2"  $29.95

Use any chalk to write on the image.  Clean using a chalkboard eraser or a damp cloth.

She adhered "Our Attitude Toward Life" Decor Element on the glass part of a gold frame.  Because of the reflection on the bottom of this frame, I don’t know if you can see that she added some brown rub-on’s also to the glass part of the frame.  This looks very striking on her dark blue wall.

This Decor Element is available in five colors:  black, basic gray, chocolate, kraft and white.  It also comes in four sizes:

9 3/4" x 7 1/8"  $15.95

13" x 9 3/8"      $17.95

17 3/4" x 12 3/4"  $19.95

25 7/8" x 18 5/8"  $21.95
