April 2009 Scrapbook Club

Published by Sue under Big Shot, Scrapbooking

April’s Scrapbook Club theme was beach/tropical vacation pages.

A close-up of the decorated chipboard.

This is my attempt at making a palm tree from the Sizzlits Little Leaves die.  My Club members did a much better job!

Everyone had their choice of wording by using the Sizzlits Billboard die.

The Sizzix Scallop Envelope holds the journaling area for this page.

This next page features flip flops and footprints (very hard to see).

The flip flops were a pattern on the Stampin’ Up! website.  Three holes are punched in each flip flop and two pieces of grosgrain ribbon are strung through them.  Embellished with punched flowers and rhinestone brads.

It is very hard to see, but there are two sets of flip flop footprints on the page.  Here’s what I did to make the footprints:

I cut out two sets of chipboard footprints, glued them together and glued them on another piece of chipboard.  I used the Sizzix Big Shot and the chipboard footprints were used as an embossing folder to make the 3-D footprints.

Don’t Throw Anything Away!

Published by Sue under Decorating

Here is some air freshener in its original package, then when it’s all dried up and finally, when the dried up stuff has been cleaned off of it.  I have these air fresheners scattered around the house.  I bought some new ones and was going to throw away the old ones, when I realized that these could be recycled.  My brain kept saying:  miniature photo frame, so here it is.

There are square indentations in the glass that make it easy to use cardstock and designer series paper in each indentation.  I used the Curly Label Punch (112966) on the photograph and layered Basic Black Cardstock (101179) and Walk in the Park designer series paper (115123).

I wanted to add some depth, so I used dimensionals behind the photo and the first layer of basic black cardstock.  I gave this one to my daughter for Mother’s Day.

Minnie Mouse Birthday Invitation

Published by Sue under Stamping

My daughter decided that Amber is going to have a Minnie and Mickey Mouse birthday party theme.  She was happy that I had the 112530 Circle Scissor Plus and 112531 Glass Mat for her to use to make these invitations.  They turned out so cute, even if she didn’t use Stampin’ Up! ribbon!

Praying for You Card

Published by Sue under Big Shot, Stamping

This is my swap card for the April 26 Stamp Share for Leaders event.  Here’s a little secret.  The Lovely Lilac cardstock was leftover from an open house project a couple of months ago.  It was scored in the middle and used as a bag topper.  I had about 40 of these in my cupboard.  My goal for this card swap was to use these.  Trust me…I fiddled with these and tried many different ways to use them.  I finally decided on this layout using a 4 1/2" by 4 1/2" card.

Here’s a close up where you can see a lot of texture in this card.  I randomly stamped the flower image on the Vellum Cardstock.

A view of the inside of the card done in Lovely Lilac ink pad.  I stamped the words from the Very Versatile stamp set first.  Then I inked up the flower from the Very Versatile stamp set, inked off the ink and lightly stamped the flowers afterwards.

Supplies:  Whisper White Cardstock, Lovely Lilac Cardstock, Pretties Kit (pearls), Crystal Effects, Very Versatile stamp set, Vellum Cardstock, Lovely Lilac Ink Pad, Small Oval Punch, white embossing powder, Crystal Effects; Sizzix products:  Top Note die cut; Manhattan Bigx XL die cut, Textured Impressions Die.
