Elements of Style Card & Scrapbook Page

Published under Scrapbooking, Stamping

This is one of the make & take projects from a recent workshop.  The technique is called Split Layers.  I punched 1 3/4" punch out of both Pear Pizzazz and Concord Crush cardstock.  Take scissors and cut each in half.  Tape one half of each color together with Scotch tape.  Punch 1 1/4" punch out of whisper white cardstock and adhere on top of two halves.

Supplies used for this card:

118611 Elements of Style Stamp Set
119795 Pear Pizzazz cardstock
100730 Whisper White cardstock
119792 Concord Crush cardstock
119784 Pear Pizzazz ink pad
119801 In-Color Marker
104430 Dimensionals
119266 Concord Crush 1/2" ribbon
119246 Basic Rhinestones
119850 1 3/4" Circle XL Punch
105826 Mat Pack
116631 Paper piercing tool
119861 1 1/4" Circle Large Punch

I decided to challenge myself to make a scrapbook page that used the same technique and similar colors as this card had.  I like this!

The First Time in 13 Years

Published under Scrapbooking

Can you believe that I have never had a workshop on a weekday in 13 years as a demonstrator?  There is always a first time for anything!

Diane emailed me that her co-workers were taking a Tuesday afternoon off from work, since they were all too busy on the weekends to get together.  They wanted to learn some new techniques for stamping and scrapbooking.

What a lovely afternoon.  The weather was warm and sunny.  Diane prepared a yummy lunch that we all ate on her deck, surrounded by her beautiful gardens.  Then it was time to begin stamping and scrapping.

(L-R) Monica, Shari and Diane are busy working on their scrapbook page.  The techniques on this scrapbook page are Color Blocking, How to Make a Paper Bow, Showing Two Sides of Designer Series Paper and Embossing with the Big Shot.

Color blocking is pieces of colored cardstock for your background, which for this page are for mounting photo's.  These were cut with the Top Note Die and dry embossed with the Elegant Lines embossing folder.   Here is my page with photo's of two of the grandgirls at Como Zoo.

Making a paper bow is easy.  You take a 1/2" wide strip of Designer Series Paper (DSP) in whatever length you need.  Fold the two ends together in the middle and adhere.  Take another piece of DSP and wrap it around the middle to complete your bow.  Paper bows don't add bulk to your scrapbook page like ribbon does.

The word "Como" was made into flower accents.  The alphabet set is retired as of 8/31/10.

To show two sides of the DSP, fold up one corner.  I added the flowers and rhinestone brad to accent the DSP.  The DSP helps anchor the color blocking to this page.

Here are the supplies used to make this scrapbook page:

119831 Sunny Garden Designer Series Paper
119952 Whisper White 12×12 Cardstock
119794 Peach Parfait Cardstock
119793 Poppy Parade Cardstock

119683 Daffodil Delight Cardstock
119667 Daffodil Delight Ink Pad
113463 Top Note Sizzix Die
119277 Elegant Lines Embossing folder
119858 Boho Blossoms Punch
119869 1/2" Circle Punch
119873 3/4" Circle Punch
118402 Scallop Trim Border Punch
104430 Dimensionals

About a week ago, I had a Beginners Big Shot Class.  It was a challenge to remember to make easy, simple projects.  Otherwise, everyone is overwhelmed and not happy, and that wouldn't be good.

This project featured 115967 Bitty Box & Envelope die and 118086 Tiny Teacup stamp.

This card featured 113469  Top  Note Die, 114511 Little Leaves Sizzlits die and 118138 Beautiful Wings Embosslits die.

This card featured 113468 Scallop Circle Bigz Die.

This card featured the 119277 Elegant Lines Embossing folder.

This card featured 115950 Scallop Square Bigz Clear Die, 113459 Leaves #2 Original Die and 114512 Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plates.

I really enjoyed seeing the look of satisfaction when everyone used the different dies in the Big Shot.  They are on their way to bigger and better projects!

A Flower for All Seasons

Published under Stamping

Don't you love getting cards in the mail? I sure do!  Especially when they are 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" envelopes; a dead giveaway that it's a handmade card!  Though I love any size handmade card!  My downline, Autumn, mailed me this card using the 111592 A Flower for All Seasons stamp set.  Some times people shy away from purchasing a stamp set with smaller images because they don't want a lot of white space on their card.  Autumn did a great job of taking a small image and adding "anchors" of cardstock to fill the front of the card.  I see she slipped in some of my favorite Cherry Cobbler cardstock!  And putting the Linen Thread in an "x" is such a cool detail that I don't think to do myself.

Thanks Autumn for the beautiful card!
